I'm Going on Tour!

Starting next week, I'll be hitting 5 incredible local yarn stores throughout the Midwest on a  "Bridge and Tunnel Tour with the amazing MollyGirl Yarn.

We're starting out at Spinnin Yarns in Griffith, in northern Indiana, a short distance from Chicago and the Michigan border. Then we head up to Skeins on Main in Rochester, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. After that we're going to Columbus, Ohio to see our friends at Yarn it and Haberdashery. Our final stop is at Knitting Off Broadway in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Why Bridge and tunnel? Because we're both from the suburbs of NYC so we have to use a bridge or a tunnel to get to the city. It's generally not a very nice name for us, but we're reclaiming the term and taking it across the country to represent New Jersey and Connecticut.

Our first stop at Spinnin' Yarns in Griffith, is a one day trunk show on March 6. You'll get a chance to see all the amazing yarns from Mollygirl and to check out a collection of projects and samples from the Jersey Shore Collection.  I'll be bringing a ton of samples and will also be available for project help if you're stuck on your stacked stitches. This shop is very close to Illinois and Michigan, so if you live in one of those states and want to come check us out, Take advantage of the late closing time and come see us before 9 PM.

Visit the Spinnin' Yarns website or Call (614) 736 - 6464 for more info.

Skeins on Main is kicking of their event with a party on March 7th. Sign up to join us for a first look at the trunk show and all my scarves, shawls, hats and sweaters that are visiting the shop.  If you're in the Detroit Metro area or in eastern Michigan, this shop is absolutely worth a visit.

I'm also teaching a few classes:

Tuesday, March 7
We are having a trunk show party with a knitting bingo game and a chocolate/wine tasting. You don't want to miss the hottest yarn party in all of Michigan.

Wednesday, March 8
Up you I-cord abilities and make this great spring shawl. In this class we will use applied I-cords to make interesting motifs and the fun openwork border on this shawl. It's not like any I-cord's you've seen before, I promise.
Supplies: 3-4 colors of fingering weight weight yarn and extra colors for swatching,
Yarn for the color order shown: 2  x 50g skeins or 220 yards of Main Color and Contrast Color 1,  2 x 90 yard mini skeins of Contrast Colors 2 and 3
needles in a corresponding size and 2 sizes larger.
Markers, scissors, etc.

In this class students will learn the basics of knitting with stacked stitches. They will cast on a scarf or swatch, use markers to keep track of stitch count and learn to fix mistakes. This is the perfect class for those looking to make a Fox Paws wrap because it teaches you how to be confident with the stacked stitch technique and how to read your knitting, troubleshoot, and fix mistakes.

Materials: Worsted weight scrap yarn in multiple colors, 3+ colors of super bulky yarn for those who want to start the scarf project in class.

Needles to match your yarn - bring a few different sizes. Wood needles are not recommended for this technique. Circulars with a long flexible cord are going to be most helpful for learning how the stacks look.
