A new lot of cookies in plastic and felt

These are the new cookies that I mentioned last week. Some are shiny and bright. and some are crystal clear. They add a bit of variety to the previously all black selection. They are available as Key chains, Pendants, or Charms. I also made some that are clear. There are also a bunch of over sized felt cookies which I still don't know how to use.

The photographs of the cookies came out really well (because my mother helped me). Look at this bowl of clear ones. It looks like it came right out of a raytracer.

In addition to the new acrylic cookies, I have made an additional 39 large record cookies and 100 small cookies. Hand cutting was a little inefficient for these large quantities and new materials, so I switched over to laser cutting the circles. This really helped my success rate for hand folding the cookies because the rounder the cookie blank is the easier it is to fold. Unfortunately the small record cookies deform a bit in the oven, so there are a few really awkward looking fortunes in the bunch.

These are made from white industrial felt.
They are very large. I have no idea what to use them for.

Good Fortune

I am off to the post office to send my first TWO etsy sales. Momentum 8 studio was kind enough to trade a new wallet for some industrial felt. I have needed a better wallet for a while now, and he gave me the perfect one. Pictures will be posted when it is received.

Then out of nowhere, last night I got a convo from  Momentum 8 studio congratulating me on my second sale. A lady bought a fortune cookie pendant from me. It was so exciting.

I wrapped the felt up in an odd triangular box, it isnt pretty, but it is a hard shape to accomodate so it will have to be ok. The fortune cookie is safely packed in a tiny box. I was so happy to send it off that I drew a little chinese food container card to hold it. I hope that it arrives safely.

At like 11:00 I noticed that something was missing again in my shop. A friend was kind enough to buy a fortune cookie pendant as well as a key chain.

It is very nice to know that I did something right this time. There are three people who are happy to have something that was made by me. That is pretty cool.

Boredom and Felt

Yesterday I felt very unproductive. I came to a rough spot in my knitting pattern for my sexy babushka project (yes it can be done), and so I turned to some scraps of industrial felt left over from a furniture project that I did last semester. I sketched out a few ideas for felt bowls and boxes, but nothing interesting came out of it.

Just last week I received my first needle felting supplies in the mail, and as exciting as it was to get 2 pounds of undyed roving and 6 felting needles, I just didn't have anything to stab. I had an idea. I could stick some of the roving onto the industrial felt with the needles. I had some really great rusty colored roving that would look brilliant on a gray background.

As you can see, the final product came out pretty nicely for a first try at needle felting. I put some little dots of of latex carpet backing on them so that they would not slide off the table.

If you really like them, you can buy a set here, or you can probably make your own.

Knitting Chainmaille Part 2

Here is the finished scarf. I have put it up on etsy and I hope to make more. It really matches my coat and makes me wish that winter would come soon.

In other news, today we turned on the air conditioning.
